Ma Yansong, the initiator and judge of the MAD Travel Fund, said about the selection results: "After reading everyone's applications, I was first moved by every student's passion for architecture. When I read every letter, I felt like I had embarked on a journey. But I am also very sorry that the MAD Travel Fund can only provide five places for world travel each year. I really hope we can help more students. Some students even wrote that his travel was to visit MAD in Beijing. I want to thank him. Although the travel places we can provide are limited, everyone is welcome to visit MAD in Beijing at any time."
In 2009, Ma Yansong initiated the MAD Travel Fund. From 2009 to 2014, a total of 30 college students in China received funding from the MAD Travel Fund, embarked on a journey with their own research topics, and shared their academic research results with everyone.
Since 2015, the MAD Travel Fund has entered the 2.0 mode and made new attempts. In order to enable students to study and research in a multi-dimensional and more three-dimensional way, we encourage students to include in their application the architectural firms they wish to visit in the travel location related to the research topic, or plans to talk with masters active in the current thought, architecture, culture and art circles. MAD will assist in contacting and making appointments after evaluation. At the end of this year, the winning students will complete a rich and in-depth research report and report the results to industry professionals, the media and the public.
The works of the winners of the 7th MAD Travel Fund in 2015 are as follows:
