Ma Yansong appeared on the cover of T-magazine Chinese Edition's 2017 Person of the Year special issue. As the only architect on the list, Ma Yansong talked with the author about his views on urban development, architects, and young people.

Regarding "urban development", Ma Yansong said frankly: "Artificiality is not sinful. Don't mind artificializing nature. What architects need to do is to create a harmonious dialogue between man and nature. When thinking about new ways out, it is not just about how to protect the environment, but how we can establish an emotional connection with it." As for "young people", he believes: "Young people should see the ills of this era. His talent lies in his independent wisdom and courage. Otherwise, he has no value."
