In 2009, Mr. Ma Yansong, founder of MAD, initiated the MAD Travel Fund, which annually supports architecture students from mainland China to complete an overseas architectural trip during their youth and gives them the opportunity to research architectural themes of their choice. In the past five sessions, 25 students from all over China have received funding and completed their dream architectural trips.

MAD has always believed that travel is one of the most important ways for architects to learn. Only by experiencing architectural space in person can we inspire different ideas and further understand ourselves. Avant-garde design needs to be rooted in local culture, which is exactly what MAD has been committed to and the concept we hope to convey to young architects.

This year, the sixth travel fund received more than 100 applications from architecture majors, environmental art design majors, etc. from universities across the country. The winners will receive a 10-14 day travel opportunity. After the trip, students will have the opportunity to publicly display their results.
