Harbin in late winter is still covered with thick snow. The first stop of MAD's Harbin trip is Harbin Cultural Island. The project consists of a grand theater and a cultural center, winding and undulating like a snow-covered mountain. The structure of this project has just been topped off and its shape is beginning to take shape. Against the backdrop of the vast white snow, it blends perfectly with the northern scenery. Accompanied by local municipal government staff, the MAD team walked through the snow and approached the mountain forest with exposed steel structures. Everyone can already feel the grandeur of this grand building and its remembrance of nature in this unfinished building framework. From 2010 to now, the repeated design and modification over the past three years have made the members involved in this project feel a lot.

After visiting the construction site, the group excitedly rushed to the nearby Siberian Tiger Park. The wild Siberian tiger area, which is not far from the new building, seemed particularly surreal. When everyone got into the cage trucks and drove into the tiger park in batches, it was more like entering a big cat grazing farm in the city, just a few steps away from the surrounding new buildings. It was the first time for everyone to see so many tigers, and they were extremely excited.

Before the sun went down, the bus took everyone to a more dreamy place: Harbin Ice and Snow World. This ice city covers an area of 600,000 square meters and uses 180,000 cubic meters of ice. It has ice buildings of various styles. The architects who work hard at the forefront of design are still amazed by it, and the various entertainments make everyone extremely excited. When the night rises and the colorful lights in the ice light up, this ice city looks even more charming and dreamy.

The next morning, everyone rushed to the ski resort in the suburbs. The northern scenery along the way was magnificent. When we arrived at the ski resort, everyone couldn't wait to put on their equipment and climb the ski slope. There were many ski experts among them. MAD is a team that can work and play. The last stop was the Wood Sculpture Museum in Qunli New District in the western suburbs. This 200-meter-long surreal fluid is located in a narrow strip between high-rise residential buildings and streets. It distorts and reflects the new city rising from the ground around it, creating a dramatic dialogue with the environment. This building continues MAD's consistent surreal attitude and recollection of nature. It attempts to break the urbanized appearance of thousands of cities and give this community a new identity.

After two days of fulfilling and surreal trip to Harbin, all MAD members returned to Beijing and re-entered another surreal space - perhaps MAD's existence in China itself is a kind of surreality.
