The MAK (Austrian Academy of Applied Arts / Museum of Contemporary Art) was founded in 1864. It was built by the Austrian Imperial and Royal Museums of Art and Industry. It pursues a continuous commitment to combining architectural practice and theory, art and industry, production, and reproduction to conduct research. Today, the MAK is an art center and a global communication point, functioning as a laboratory for creating new art for the world, and as a global network to spread ideas and spark debates about art and architecture.
