On June 16, 2016, Ma Yansong gave a keynote speech at the "Los Angeles Architecture Awards" hosted by the Los Angeles Association of Business (LABC) in Los Angeles. Harbin Opera House won the "Beyond LA" category award for its "extremely creative architectural design". Ma Yansong was also awarded the "Los Angeles City Recognition Certificate" by the City of Los Angeles for his "unremitting efforts in the urban construction of Los Angeles".
