Ma Yansong’s work spans urban planning, architecture and art, and focuses on the relationship between man and nature. With his outstanding creativity, he has always been active at the forefront of China’s architectural world.
In the book "Ma Yansong - Between (global) modernization and (local) tradition", Asia House curator Menene Gras expresses a strong recognition of the relationship between nature and cities in the context of Chinese history, and interprets this theme repeatedly explored by ancient Chinese literati and classical gardens from the work of Ma Yansong, China's most forward-looking architect.
