From February 8 to 11, 2012, Casa Asia and Future magazine jointly invited Ma Yansong to Spain to share MAD's works locally.

In Barcelona and Madrid, Ma Yansong attended lectures at the School of Architecture LaSalle and participated in the review and discussion of thesis designs of the school's architecture graduates. During this visit, Ma Yansong met with the Madrid Municipal Housing Department and inspected local social housing, sharing some of his thoughts and ideals on social housing and mass housing life today. His open lecture at the COAM Foundation attracted many students, architects and local government officials to actively participate, inspiring local understanding of Ma Yansong and MAD's global design practice. Ara, La Vanguardia, El Mundo, El Pais and many local media have reported on Ma Yansong's visit to Spain in real time, and some interviews, reflecting the local thoughts and inspirations of his arrival. Ma Yansong was also invited as a guest on the local radio program Q! Estudio, through which he shared his ideals for the city, the future, and nature.
