As a Chinese nominee, Ou Ning nominated 15 Chinese designers' design works. Ma Yansong, Guang Yu and Ma Ke were shortlisted after the preliminary review. During the exhibition from February 13 to April 27, these works will be voted by the British public and the final judges to compete for different category awards and the only annual design award. The results of the selection will be announced on March 18 this year.
The London Design Museum's annual design award (Designer of the Year) was established in 2003. It is mainly used to reward designers who live and work in the UK or were born in the UK and work in other countries. The prize money is as high as 25,000 pounds. Those who have been selected as designers of the year include Apple computer and series product designer Jonathan Ive (2003), multimedia designer Daniel Brown (2004, whose works participated in the 2007 Louder Exhibition), design decision maker Hilary Cottam (2005, who has made innovative designs for schools, prisons and medical service systems in the UK) and Jamie Hewlett, the designer of the virtual band Gorillaz (2006). In 2007, the London Design Museum decided to change this award to Designs of the Year. The scope of the selection is no longer limited to the UK, but is open to the whole world, and the selection categories are expanded to seven categories: architecture, graphic design, fashion, new media, products, furniture and transportation.
