There are 36 venues in the 2024 Paris Olympics, of which only two are newly built large venues. The Aquatics Center is one of them. It is located in the Saint-Denis district of Paris, just across a highway from the Stade de France, the main venue for the opening and closing ceremonies and track and field events. MAD hopes that the Aquatics Center will become an urban public art that brings beauty and hope to people. Driving on the A86/A1 highway, the traffic artery of Paris, you can see the white translucent ribbons floating in the city from a distance. The curves of the white curtain wall change with the sunlight and weather, like slowly rippling water.

Natural light fully enters the interior, continuing the pursuit of light and shadow. Out of emphasis on sustainable development, MAD chose local wood as the main structural material, accounting for more than 70%. The wooden roof is naturally exposed and becomes part of the interior design of the swimming pool. At the same time, the roof is designed with large-area solar panels and rainwater collection systems to save resources and reduce energy consumption.

The entire aquatics center has only 2,500 regular seats, which is friendly in scale. A separate top-floor space is designed in the venue, which can be used as an art space or an activity space for local residents during non-game periods, and can be used as a temporary stand with an additional 2,500 seats during major events.
The pure white curtain wall is also a 360-degree projection display screen, which becomes an information display screen or a live broadcast of the game during the game. In normal times, through cooperation with local multimedia artists, it becomes the largest public art exhibition interface in the region, bringing vitality to the community at night.

During the competition phase, MAD teamed up with French local firms such as Jacques Rougerie Architecture, Atelier Phileas Architecture, and Apma Architecture as well as professional consultants to collaborate on the design.
