MAD recently announced the latest detailed design of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in the United States. This museum, which is described by the American media as "futuristic and seamlessly connected to the landscape", is like a huge undulating white sand dune on the shore of Lake Michigan, becoming a piece of land art. The project is scheduled to start construction in March next year.

In order to better integrate into the surrounding architecture and landscape, the museum design reduces the building volume by about 25% and the land area by 40% compared with the previously announced conceptual design, while the outdoor green space area has increased to 4.6 acres. The public open space has also been more clearly planned, including a floating pedestrian platform and a "public activity grassland" connected to the "floating platform" on the south side of the museum; it is a place for people to walk, exercise, and ride bicycles, as well as large-scale urban events such as concerts and festivals. The winding paths between the museum and the lake and surrounding buildings, as well as the parking lot and transportation hub are hidden under the "floating platform".

The museum's internal functional planning was also made public for the first time. In the more than one year since the conceptual design plan was announced, the MAD team, the museum's first director Don Bacigalupi's team, and various partners have made detailed arrangements and plans for the museum's internal functions and streamlines. Ma Yansong described "the design of the museum as an 'inside-out' design process, and the internal structure is truly expressed through the museum's external form."

The interior space of the museum is not only socially open, but also spiritual. There is a dome in the center of the building, called the "urban living room". Light enters this open atrium space from the top. Various cultural activities can be held here, and it is equipped with the world's largest LED curved multimedia screen. Visitors can spiral up along the ramp around the dome, pass through the circular exhibition hall on each floor, and finally reach the temporary exhibition hall at the top, as well as the 360-degree view restaurant and outdoor public platform. The other two important components of the museum are the education area and library on the west side and the three theaters on the east side, which can meet the museum's needs in introducing film art and digital art. The three parts have independent and connected entrance halls, forming a landscape corridor along the lake.
