The exhibition will showcase more than 100 works selected from the M+ Architecture Collection, the first architectural collection in Asia, including architectural models, drawings, photographs, installations, videos and other materials, many of which are being shown to the public for the first time. These exhibits come from 35 architects, firms and artists in Hong Kong, mainland China, Asia and other regions, spanning the history of architecture from the 1920s to the present.
The exhibited works come from Hong Kong architects including Chung Wah-nam, Ho Tao, Lai Kam-chiu, Wang Ze-sheng and Yan Xun-qi; mainland Chinese architects/artists and firms including Feichang Jianzhu (Zhang Yung-ho), Ai Weiwei, Jiakun Architects (Liu Jiakun), MAD (Ma Yansong, Dang Qun, Yosuke Hayano), OPEN Architecture (Li Hu and Huang Wenjing), Urbanus (Meng Yan, Wang Hui, Liu Xiaodu) and Zhu Pei Architects (Zhu Pei); in addition, there are famous international architects including Frank Lloyd Wright, Paul Rudolph, Steven Holl, Bernard Tschumi, and OMA (Rem Koolhaas and Elia Zenghelis).
In order to reflect the "cross-border" nature of M+, in addition to the above-mentioned architectural works, this exhibition will also display some similar visual art collections, including works by Cao Fei, Andreas Gursky, AernoutMik, Wong Ping-pui (aka "Another Mountain Man") and MAP Office.
"Building M+: Museum Design Proposals and Architectural Collections" is the fifth exhibition in the "M+ Ongoing" series.
