MAD's "Gu Chair" along with creations from 11 other Chinese designers were exhibited together, juxtaposed with the collection from the Centre Pompidou, creating a rare cross-cultural art scene for the public.
The "Gu Chair" draws inspiration from the human skeleton, seemingly reflecting the most natural human curves. Beyond resembling an organic entity that breathes and grows, the piece is also a dynamic work of sculptural art: its organic form, perfect lines, and finely polished wood create an elegant and minimalist design that is both graceful and refined.
The "Gu Chair" is a collaboration between MAD and the pioneering Italian furniture design brand Sawaya & Moroni, first showcased at the 2018 Milan Design Week.
