The design is inspired by the natural form and characteristics of this city of ice and snow, which is a contrast between the natural elegance and the fast pace of people's lives. With its 200-meter-long icicle body, it reflects the inseparable relationship between architecture and environment.

MAD connects two exhibition spaces of different art types through a central entrance. The skylight design just brings sunlight into the atrium near the gallery, creating a unique scene inside and around the building.

Since 2009, MAD has designed three major cultural buildings; the structural part of the China Woodcarving Museum is about to be completed, and the design of the Grand Theater and Cultural Center is expected to be completed in February next year.
